President Trump and his new Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Robert Wilkie, headed to Kansas City, Missouri on Tuesday where Trump spoke to a crowd of about 4000 veterans. The crowd was gathered at the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention where Trump campaigned for GOP Senate candidate Joshua Hawley and railed against current Democratic Senator Clare McCaskill.
Trump also called out California Representative Maxine Waters for her attacks on him and his administration that make the liberal news rounds weekly.
President Trump spent a good deal of his speech talking about tariffs and his determination to bring fair trade to the hard working citizens of this country.
Near the end of his speech, Trump surprised 94 year-old WWII veteran Sgt. Allen Jones by bringing him up on stage to meet him.
“It was something I always dreamed of and finally it happened. Oh it was awesome. It was the thrill of a lifetime for this 94-year-old. I never imagined he’d call us up.”
Jones is from Pennsylvania but made the trek to Kansas City this week to see the President talk. When Trump brought him up on stage, he signed a photo of the two of them taken during the 2016 presidential campaign.
“Any time we see an American in uniform from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines or Coast Guard, our hearts swell with pride.”
Just before Jones headed off stage, he turned and asked Trump a very important question.
“I’m going to be 95 years of age on April 11th of next year. Hopefully you will allow me to bring my family into the Oval Office.”
Trump immediately said ‘”YES” and invited him and his family to visit him next year. Jones was extremely excited to receive such a response from someone he admires so much.
